“The Wonderful Adventures of Mr. Papplewick,” Fitz-James O’Brien, 1852 – A man accidentally takes the wrong pill for a stomachache and becomes a human magnet. He agrees to join a scientific expedition to find the North Pole, where he finds a colony of walruses. He witnesses the execution of a Dodo, who has committed the crime of inter-marriage with an albatross; unfinished.
